After both people complete and confirm, Divide compares the choices inside the shared case. It shows which items only you claimed, which items only the other person claimed, which items both claimed, and which neither claimed. Items needing discussion or another next step remain clearly separated.

Use the Financial Register to record property and financial information that may be relevant to the separation, including property, vehicles, accounts, savings, investments, superannuation, business interests and liabilities where applicable. Add values where you know them, leave them pending where you do not, and add more detail later.
There is no long intake questionnaire, no compulsory document upload and no requirement to enter an exact address. Divide can record whether supporting documents are available, but the documents themselves stay with you.
Divide records the information entered. It does not determine the legal property pool, value assets, calculate an entitlement or replace formal disclosure and professional advice.

Frequently asked questions
Do we need to agree before we begin?
No. Divide uses one shared case for both people. One person creates it and invites the other, whether that happens immediately or later. Each person then records their own choices privately against the same list, without having to negotiate every item in real time.
Do I need exact addresses, values or documents to begin?
No. A label such as ‘Richmond home’ or ‘Holiday house’ is enough to start. Values can remain pending where they are not yet known. Divide can record whether supporting documents are available, but documents are not uploaded to or stored in Divide.
Can I invite a professional?
Yes. Each person may appoint their own lawyer or accountant. If both people want to use the same accountant, the second person can separately choose to share that accountant. One person nominates an appointed mediator and the other must approve before the mediator joins. The mediator role does not access the Financial Register and does not by itself mean accredited family dispute resolution.
